My Favorite Buttercream Recipe

This is what I ice my cakes with. People love the flavor!

2 sticks salted butter
1 cup of shortening (I use hi-ratio shortening... it must be purchased at a specialty store or online)
about 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk
2 lbs of powdered sugar

Add additional milk if it is too thick

Easy!

  2. What kind of specialty store are we talking about here? I so not a professional. You have to keep it simple for me--remember I never took the cake decorating classes like you fancy girls.

    One container goes a long way. I usually just order two every six months. The shipping is very reasonable. Hi-ratio doesn't have a greasy texture. It is fluffy in the icing.
